Do you start your day with a hot cup of coffee? Read on to know about some alarming facts and also an accurate solution to it…
Alka Khungar, the Chief Marketing Officer for Santi Coffee Cup Covers said that basically everybody loves to enjoy their brew at any time of the day from their drink holder. People also know that there are millions of germs thriving around us. But how many have actually given it a serious thought that germs could be spreading through direct hand to hand contact?
They perceived that there was an urgent need for “something” between the server’s hand, customer’s hand and the coffee lid so that infection doesn’t spread. A kind of barrier was needed and Santi Coffee Covers are just that, said Horace Cunningham, the president and founder of Santi.
Billed as a ten cent solution to a billion dollar problem, the covers can be placed over the lid of a cup, to avoid infectivity from the server’s hands. “You simply pick it up; it takes all of two seconds. It goes right on to the cup. You never touched the lid, then into your coffee cup holder,” said Cunningham.
But, do Santi Coffee Covers destroy the germs as well? No, but they are certainly a powerful barrier that prevents germs and viruses from being passed on via direct contact with the contaminated surface.
The covers aren’t in mass production yet, but Cunningham hopes companies like Starbucks and McDonalds will sign up, once they see the value of his product, like some similar wheelchair accessories already being employed by the two companies. Cunningham says they are a quick, easy, frontline defense against germs and microbes, not to mention, they’re waterproof. “So should you be traveling, put
it in your car, and if it spills out, it will not spill onto you,” said Cunningham.
Khunger said that in majority of the establishments Sanitation Rules are followed. “Employees should wash their hands at certain time periods. We obviously don’t expect them realistically to wash their hands every three minutes. It’s a cost to the business,” she said.
Most of all, Santi Coffee Covers are completely eco-friendly, a true “Green Product” giving you peace of mind. However, health experts still say the most outstanding preventative measure is for employees to wash their hands.
