You go to the movie theater, take a seat, and put your oversized cup into the holder at the edge of your armrest. Simple, easy, and the natural place for it. But why can’t you have this natural phenomenon elsewhere?
Doug is busy working hard on a presentation for his meeting tomorrow in San Francisco. He’s bent over his laptop working intensely, ignoring everything around him. Suddenly he’s tapped on the shoulder and asked, “Anything to drink, sir?” He’s faced with a dilemma many business people are forced to deal with everyday. Does Doug put his laptop away so he can put his cup on the tray table? Does he ignore the drink and go back to work? Or should he simply hold the cup in his lap while continuing to work, and chance a nasty spill? If only there was an option that created the ease of the movie theater.
Mary’s at a New Jersey Nets game. There’s ten seconds left, and her team’s down by one. Point guard passes to the center, and the center dunks it in for two points just as the buzzer ends the game. Izod Center erupts and Mary jumps to her feet in excitement, unfortunately she’s just spilled her drink all over her date. Not enough time to go back for another, so Eric will miss that caffeine buzz this afternoon. Too bad the cup was in his lap, and not in a holder.
