Gate areas at JFK and LaGuardia are now spruced up to provide services like never before and getting a decent meal once you reach that boarding gate has been made easy. At kiosks of Apple iPads installed by Delta Airlines on gates 21 and 22 in JFK Terminal 2 and gate 15 in JFK Terminal 2 it is simple to punch in your order (or drink for your travel cup holder) on a specially designed application. This week the airline is rolling out this facility at these gates in JFK and at LaGuardia’s Terminal D near gates 1 and 2 taking forward their vision to providing more amenities to their passengers at these two bustling New York airports.

Delta envisions a delightful experience for their customers flying out of New York and is fulfilling a need to give their passengers options to help themselves to a meal made by world-renowned chefs of various cuisines. Customers can view the menus for something French at Terminal 2 of JFK from the Croque Madame conceptualized by chef Andrew Carmellini.

Something Italian is on offer at Terminal 3 from Bar Brace which is the brainchild of restaurateur Jason Denton. Then you have LaGuardia where you can sink your teeth into a freshly made pizza at Crust at the new Terminal D dining stations.

The customer’s order will be delivered to them as quickly as within 10 minutes of placing the request for the meal on the kiosks and before confirming the last step the customer will be informed of what time they can expect the meal to arrive so they may ascertain whether they have sufficient time before boarding to enjoy their meal. (It also helps them know if they’ll have time to shop for various wheelchair accessories or travel accessories like a travel drink holder from airport shops.)

The airport restaurant partner of Delta is OTG management, a well-established player in this sector catering to many major city airports. Their restaurants at these airports have garnered rave reviews, markedly the JFK Terminal 5 dining. Delta Airlines has enlisted the services of these restaurateurs who will serve their customers at the marked gates in a specially designed section called dining stations. This enclosure will have comfortable seats with power outlets to recharge laptops, mobiles, etc. and is sufficient to accommodate single or group travelers.

The airplane carrier with its headquarters in Atlanta is making New York a focus area for upgrading their services. Before the dining service at boarding gates was announced, Delta had already partnered with OTG at both JFK and LaGuardia to introduce 13 new food and beverage innovations throughout Terminal D. JFK has a set of new full service cafés and bars in the premises lying within the Delta Sky Clubs.

Think tailgating, college football, and beer in the cup holder of your camping chair. Then read this:

There’s nothing like having some delicious meat that’s fresh off the grill. And being able to take a grill with you wherever you go makes it possible to have that enjoyment all the time, just like enjoying your beverage at any time with your travel drink holder. So whether you are camping, RVing, tailgating or just want to go out in the backyard, having a portable grill is clutch. So which are the best portable grills for tailgating?

To find the best portable grill we have to first look at what type of use it will be used for. For people who like to do it all (such as hardcore campers and tailgaters) one of the best grills is the Char-broil Grill2Go ice. This is a portable grill with coolers and it offers several great features that enhance it’s usability and portability. For instance, the grill comes with a compact design that houses two soft sided coolers, a telescoping handle and large wheels. When it’s packed away it takes up less than a quarter of the trunk of a car and when you need to take it somewhere just raise the handle and drag it around much like you would a suitcase. Setting the grill up is as easy as most wheelchair accessories, and you do it by lifting the collapsing legs, attaching the detachable side tables, hooking up the gas and lighting the burner. It also uses a unique infrared grilling technology that is fuel efficient and heats the meat quickly. The dual coolers are a great feature for separating things that need to be kept at different temperatures. So you can but ice cold beer and soda in one of the coolers and keep the meat and veggies in the other cooler. And since they aren’t attached you can grab them and take them wherever and when it comes time to go just throw them back under the grill and you’re good to go.

While everyone has their own preferences when it comes to the food and beverage category of grills, it may not be for everyone. But it definitely has the most value as it has everything you’d need for grilling that is conveniently stored and can be taken anywhere.

Kopelow’s kitchen is a wonder in itself. His kitchen is all about capacity (much like what we considered when designing our cup holder). Everything starting from the amount or quantity of raw food that needs to be brought and cooked for a full fledged dish to the size of the containers like soup cauldrons, hand mixers or the mixing bowls are gigantic. The quantities are measured in terms of hundreds of gallons and the smallest measured quantity that they deal with is five gallons.

His kitchen is a ten year old initiative taken by Eric and is dedicated to serve the people of Universal Studios Hollywood (who hopefully took their travel drink holder to the park). On a daily basis, about 25,000 people are benefited from his kitchen. This is a 48,000 square foot theme park kitchen having norms of huge portions and big equipment. Along with the greatness in size, the mistakes made are no smaller. Even the loss coming from minor mistakes can be large.

Kopelow is 49 years of age and has done his graduation from the Culinary Institute of America in New York City. He has been able to boost the sales by the kitchen tremendously in the last few years.

Kopelow’s kitchen is a much appreciated one because usually theme parks have kitchens that are spread throughout the park in the form of small individual kitchens but unlike that, Kopelow’s kitchen has managed to stand as a single body kitchen that has the capability to serve the whole park in the particular area itself. Eric also used to run a small kitchen previous to this as an executive chef for UAL Corp’s United Airlines and left it after attacks of September 11th.

Kopelow knows well the requisites that one kitchen needs to have to attract people towards it (just like wheelchair or scooter consumers know they need in wheelchair accessories). He is a very well experienced person in his field and has made remarkable growth. He checks the work done by about 100 cooks, 20 bakers and handles the food served to 12 restaurants and 85 food carts. He tests at least one new item every week and gets all positive replies in the food review websites as well as inside the park. He has tried and tested of about 125 recipes of pizza dough before actually sticking to one formulated one for use. His kitchen has been rated 90 out of 100.

Kopelow always wanted to become a doctor but due to fear of blood, he could not fulfill his wish. Although in a different profession now, he has become a perfectionist and such a successful personality.

When lunch time arrives, it brings out the indecisions as well about what one wants to eat. Whether they would like to order from outside or are tired eating the same usually stuff. Often this discussion ends with some average coffee in a cup holder and a cold roll or sandwich in plastic. However, food chains inside workplaces have now changed things. Several branches have been opened by Cup O Joe in Tel Aviv’s Salameh Street where the new police headquarters of Israel are located apart from the branches of Cellcom and SAP in other places. The choice that employees get is good and is also subsidized.

The chains that have opened in the workplace offer special dishes from the chefs, sandwiches and lunch that are delivered to the desk so that one doesn’t have to move an inch for lunch. It is possible to order for coffee and sandwiches even to the interrogation rooms in the police headquarters. This is a welcome change from a time when the army’s Shekem canteens would offer nothing but cold wafers. Now police officers feel they have choices that no other police station would have.

Although there is not a fixed time that policemen would quote when asked about the duration they spend in the canteens, it is usually around an hour. The money they spend is also anywhere near NIS 30 – 70 in the gourmet coffee canteens which is twice as much as they spend in the boring canteen. The cafeteria owners though get huge profits out of the large audience which makes up for a revenue around 30000 – 70000 NIS a day with about 1000 clients.

According to Espresso Bar and Cup O’ Joe, it is a strategic move to open these branches in workplaces. According to top marketing officials, those who drink their coffee at work might also start looking for it outside to put in a travel drink holder and the branches with thousands of workers turn out to be profitable in the end anyways.

Another catering firm that has been feeding most of the high tech workers in the country is the Schultz. According to Oren Schultz, the director and owner of the catering firm, as many as 50,000 portions are prepared daily by the 850 strong firm that are then sent to over 60 different companies including Netvision, Amdocs and Comverse. A good example is Amdocs where as many as 4000 people from all three campuses put together eat lunch every day after checking the situation from the computer screen.

Just like a drink holder holds your beverage, a fridge keeps it cool, but sometimes you only have a place for a small one:

The main use of the mini freezer is that it gives you the advantage of carrying with you items that need to be kept chilled and thus enabling you to carrying such items where ever you may go. So if you are thinking of going on a road trip and are wondering how you will be going to keep the drinks cool and foods chilled a mini freezer is a very good investment, espcially partnered with a travel cup holder. As these appliances have a very minimum use of wiring they can be carried wherever you go without worrying about how and where to connect or keep them.

The main aspect that you should consider while looking out for a mini freezer is the size and the shelving arrangement. It should be noted that the price of these appliances depends on the size as well as the material that is used for the shelves. The next aspect to consider is the electricity or power issue, most of these mini freezer models are available in different categories and possess AC/DC power supply inputs as well as they can be connected to the battery charger of the car.

You should buy a mini freezer depending on the amount of items that you will be carrying with you on the trip. This is necessary as you will then be able to decide the size as well as what added features that you might require. There are mini freezer models that come with ice on the go formulae’s as well as those with frosting and defrosting features. There are many local stores catering to such appliances as well as internet sites that give customers a bird’s eye view of all the appliances and models that are available in the mini freezer category. It is a good idea to look up reviews before buying a mini freezer so as to purchase one that will last you for a long time.
