Assisted living is for adults who need help with everyday tasks. They may need help with dressing, bathing, eating, or using the bathroom, but they don’t need full-time nursing care. Assisted living is becoming a popular choice for individuals facing these situations. Assisted living provides seniors a combination of needed assistance, while still allowing a degree of independence. For instance, one may be able to cook, but prefer to leave the shopping and preparing to the on-site cafeteria or kitchen, at least some of the time. These are also individuals who can benefit from mobility accessories. Assisted Living facilities are regulated and licensed at the state level. Each state licensing agency has its own definition of the term it uses to describe assisted living.

Decision making is wearisome with the unconstrained options. Decisions of this magnitude should generally be discussed with those who will be responsible for their loved one’s estate later. Other financial alternatives may need to be considered before assets are permanently liquidated to pay for assisted care.

Most facilities give residents their own private apartment, with a full bathroom and kitchen. Some apartments are luxurious, looking more like a hotel suite than a heath care facility. Residents live independently in their own units with health care and other services readily available within the complex. These facilities are preferred by people who need some assistance with daily living but do not have medical issues that necessitate nursing home care. Residents are free to enjoy the privacy of their own suite, entertain friends, or join in group social activities. The choice is theirs.

Assisted living and Continuing Care Retirement Communities may adapt the services offered to meet the specific needs of the seniors living in their facilities. Nursing homes also have a range of services and social activities adjusted to suit the limitations of the residents. Assisted living is much different than a nursing home. A nursing home might be utilized in the event that serious medical attention is needed or if a person needs help with most daily life functions.

Assisted Living Administrators take care of facility operations, such as making sure meals are prepared on time, medicine is stocked and given to the right patients and the facility is clean and well cared for. Assisted living marketing is time-consuming, what with its responsibilities for community outreach and multiple sales contacts with prospective residents and family members. This position should not be burdened with administrative tasks that detract from the primary goal of census stabilization.

Assisted living services allowed in one state may only be available in a nursing home in another state. Recently there is an effort among many state legislatures to unify assisted living licensing provisions based on a common model for all states. Assisted living facility is referred to different names in different states. It is also known as senior housing in Colorado while other states refer to it as retirement living home, adult living facility, elderly care housing, among others. Assisted living apartments and rooms tend to be smaller than living spaces intended for the general public. They are often fitted with safety devices such as handrails and special bathroom fixtures, and may include a hospital bed if needed.

When it comes to wheelchair frames, the materials that are used define the extent to which the wheelchair is durable as well as how strong it is. There are a host of materials that are used, from aluminum, titanium, chrome as well as composite materials that are quiet light weight. Some of the frames could be rigid, while others are folding and flexible. One of the key aspects of good quality wheelchairs is the need for safety in the wheelchairs being crashworthy as well as tie down points. These need to be standardized for better safety. Titanium is of the best materials as it is durable and tough as well as light. Titanium is twice as strong as 6061 aluminum and 50% lighter than steel on account of which it provides the best of both worlds.

Wheelchairs come with well designed armrests which are meant to support the user’s upper body when seated in the chair. It is also possible to have wheelchairs without armrests or even truncated ones in case the user has enough strength to support his/her upper body. Wheelchairs come with lap trays, special armrests and also forearm troughs in order to provide comfort and convenience to the wheelchair user. Rigid arm boards serve the purpose of supporting the humeral head in alignment with the glenoid fossa at a better and more natural and flexible angle as compared to slings. Armrests, based on their type and mode could add a lot of weight to the wheelchairs.

There are quite a few armchair types that are available. Some of these have power functions like elevating, recline and tilt. Some of these also have height adjustment feature or flip back ability. Many of these wheelchairs fold well and simply which makes it easy for transportation and storage when not in use. These also have brake handles so that the wheelchair can come to a halt as required. The depth of the wheelchair is measured from the back to the front of the seat, and a proper depth is needed for both support and comfort.

When the wheelchair is of folding type, it should have 1 to 2 seat widths in the cross brace. One can also order growth kits from manufacturers along with footplates as well as new cross frame. Folding frames have cross braces that help the chair to get collapsed effectively. On the other hand, wheelchairs which are rigid in manner have folding backs and also wheels that are quick release in nature.

Wheelchairs come in various models that include rear-wheel, mid-wheel and front-wheel types. In rear-wheel type of wheelchairs, there are big wheels that are placed in the rear part so as to prop up the rider’s center of gravity. While rear wheel drive wheelchairs are quite common, front wheels are also gaining in popularity as they provide a tighter turning capacity.

One can also add mobility scooters to wheelchairs according to the user’s specific needs. There are also a number of other scooter accessories and additional products that you can take advantage of to enhance your mobility scooter experience. You can check out a lot if these online as there are quite a few websites that host such products online to make your wheelchair or mobility scooter experience more comfortable.

Those individuals who conduct business from a wheelchair, powerchair, or scooter find a cup holder to be a useful accessory. The choices come in many shapes and sizes. In the category of “to the side” cup holders, there is a choice between a nifty flip down option, which is tailored to bottled and canned beverages, but also some cup holders that clamp onto the frame of the wheelchair or scooter. This last example also tends to have a slot for a coffee mug handle. Another option, and one that we’re fond of here, is the armrest cup holder which gives you that movie style armrest feeling. These models can either strap onto the armrest, like our beloved product, but there are also some that can be screwed in between the armrest and the frame of the chair, or ones that screw into the bottom of the armrest and dangle down. It’s all a matter of the consumers wants, needs, and situation.

A family friend begged one of the founders of OH 4 Industries to create a viable wheelchair cup holder. Being in the stadium cup holder business, the founder quickly summed up in his head the cost of all the plastic injection molds that would be needed for the wide variety of wheelchairs and scooters. He decided to take it to his design team before giving up.

It started with gathering data, especially by crash testing the current options. One cup holder was made of cheap plastic and broke easily. Another model attached easily, but once a cup of coffee was placed in it the cup holder fell to the floor (along with the coffee). Most of the available products attached on the side of a wheelchair or scooter, which got caught on doorways. OH 4 Industries realized there was definitely a market, and people deserved a better product.

Throughout the testing, measurements were coming in for the armrests. All seemed to be within an inch difference in width, and another inch and a half in depth. Slowly the team was realizing this project wasn’t only doable, they might be able to cover most makes and models with one product.

This led to a final design and choice of materials. Attached to the armrest was the natural location, much like a movie theater armrest. The cup holder would be made of plastic, but of a flexible source, not the rigid plastic the current models were available in. Achieving a superior grip became the next issue, and everything from heavy duty rubber bands to a plastic zap strap mechanism was discussed. After some market research and consulting a few physical therapists, Velcro straps became the obvious answer, and a simply genius one. Lastly the height variance needed to be dealt with, and after discussing options with a local custom gasket vendor, sticky foam pads could be inserted underneath the cup holder at a relatively low cost.

Testing the prototype was so successful it was rumored to be a universal cup holder. It could be used on wheelchair, scooter, stadium, office chair, and even airline armrests. (The last option discovered after one team member took it on a trip.) The ”Nearly” Universal OH became a reality. Keeping an eye on costs, but also wanting to use recycled materials, a regrind tolerance of 15% was found to be suitable, and partially recycled packaging helped keep the product environmentally friendly.

Try it now with a 60 day 110% money back guarantee (on the first order, all subsequent offers will refund 100%). For a limited time only use coupon code $5off for, you guessed it, five dollars off.
