Stock Your Pantry With The Right Cake Pans

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Just like everyone loves a parade, even more people love a good party (you thought I was going to say drink holder). So that means cakes:

Some cake pans are simply mandatory, and many people don’t have them. It’s really easy to get caught up in the newest trends of materials, shapes, or cartoon characters, but without the basics the cakes that you’re able to bake are pretty limited. This is especially true of beginning bakers, and those tempted by new and shiny things (unlike our educated cup holder patrons). This article will show you what you should have stocked in your pantry before going shopping for the crazy pans.

Round cake pans are the standard. The most common sizes are 9 and 10 inch, but having 7, 11, and 13 inch is also extremely useful. With all of these different sizes you can make a mean tiered cake. Another benefit of a full set of round pans is that they can easily be cut down into shapes that you can’t find a pan for. If you’re anything like me, and you bake a mean cheesecake, having springform pans in the same sizes is going to help a lot.

You’re also going to need a fluted cake pan. These are also called bundt and tube pans. Get the design and shape that suits your fancy, but make sure that it’s nonstick. Baking fluted cakes is terribly frustrating when you can’t get it out of the pan, so you’re going to need all of the help you can get. They are fluted that way so that the cake can bake from the center as well as the outside to make sure that comes out finished.

Square cake pans aren’t terribly useful, but important to have on hand. Tiered square cakes are very trendy for wedding right now, and you can also use them to trim shapes that you can’t get a shaped pan of.

Having a solid set of standard cake pans is one of the smartest things aspiring bakers can have. Not only can you bake any cake you can imagine, it saves the time of having to go to the store with every baking project that comes up!

A lot of shops allow you to print a photograph or even your own message on mugs. This makes the gift a very personal and unique one, and one that can easily slide into our drink holder).

To choose the right mug to gift a person, start with their personality. Are they ambitious, creative, funny, wild, or warm? What about the occasion? A cheerful Christmas-y mug can recall the joy and festive feeling around Christmas, whenever the person uses the mug. Another good way to give the gift that is a buy a coffee cup connected the year of birth or age of the person. With time, women will stop appreciating this gift! Still, it is a good gift to give someone in their twenties, who has just started working and has many coffee breaks through the day!
There is also copper, representing the local sports clubs, teams or organizations. Sports fans or members of a special club will love these. You can choose a bright and artistic design with their favorite team

And why not fill up that empty cup before you gift it? Not with coffee, but with a coffee-related gifts. How about a bunch of coffee beans tied with a ribbon? Or, a coffee press to help crunch coffee beans to make a delicious brew? How about a good coffee table book to accompany the mug? There are so many idea. Use your imagination to create a special gift.

The reason Cans are so “Cool”

Monday, July 12th, 2010

What is the coolest way to package a cold drink? The answer lies in cans. Made of recycled aluminum or stainless steel scrap around the world, cans are always the first choices of the food and beverage industry, when it comes to packaging soft drinks and food. (Not to mention aluminum cans fits nicely in our cup holder.) The reason? Cans cool faster and, thus, are the best choices for soda packaging on a hot day. There is one more reason. Cans are more convenient than glass bottles during transportation, as they do not break or crack. Their design is such that they can be stacked easily. It’s these properties that are making them the preferred choice of packing at the Dubai Shopping Festival 2010.

Even from a recycling angle, steel and aluminum cans come out tops, even better than plastic products like our cup holders. They are the most recycled containers, making them friends of the environment, and a manufacturer’s first choice. Recycling, as we all know, slows down the depletion of natural resources. It also helps keep the world around us clean. A manufacturer benefits because recycling eliminates the need to keep buying new metal and, thus, lowers the costs of production.

We have just seen how cans made from scrap metals in Dubai are an obvious boon for the beverage industry. But few know that they also benefit the consumer to a great extent. Aluminum and steel cans preserve the quality and freshness of the food or beverage they contain. Edibles packaged in cans could even end up tasting good longer. So, as a consumer you do not have to worry about where your baked beans, tinned sardines, canned fruits, ready-to-cook meals, soft drinks or vegetables come from. If they are packaged in steel or aluminum containers, you can be assured that their quality has not been affected, and that they have been stored and transported safely. Another advantage for consumers is that it is possible for schools, clubs, organizations, and individuals to recycle steel and aluminum cans for a good cost.

In this day and age, when protecting the environment and its natural resources has taken on such importance, recycled cans from Dubai give environmentalists, manufacturers, and consumers a good reason to rejoice.
