Senseo Coffee Pods Make Your Mornings a Lot Easier

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

Information below, because having the right cup of joe in your coffee cup holder is important:

Your alarm goes off. It’s time for work. You reluctantly get out of bed, brush your teeth, hit the shower, and get dressed. All this time there is only on though going through your head: “Coffee!”

A cup of coffee is a vital part of most adults morning ritual. It gives them the kick in the pants that they need to get going. However, early in the morning it’s such a hassle to set a fresh pot. If only there was an easier way for you to get that delicious cup of smouldering blackness. Enter senseo coffee pods.

Senseo coffee pods have revolutionized making coffee. Never before was it this easy and quick to brew a cup of coffee for the mug in your drink holder. They originated in Europe, where Dutch companies Douwe Egberts and Philips collaborated to design these helpful little pouches. These companies decided that it must be possible to make the coffee making process more user friendly and quicker.

Their collaboration worked out like a charm. Senseo coffee pods have made it possible to brew a cup of coffee in a matter of seconds. All that is needed is a coffee pod, a coffee pod machine and water.

Now coffee making is as easy as making tea. You simply put the pod and the water in the machine, and press a button. The water will be heated in a matter of seconds, and the machine will be ready to pour you a cup.

It didn’t take long for other flavors of coffee pods to appear. Now you can choose from dark roast, medium roast, vanilla, decaf, cappuccino, or espresso coffee pods. And those are only some of the options you have. Whatever you like, you can count on the fact that there will be a pod available that can give you your favourite type of coffee.

The only downside to this new invention that for now it can only brew two cups at a time. Still, it’s much faster than a regular coffee maker. Besides, you can probably count on the wonderful teams that work at Douwe Egberts and Philips to create a machine in the future that tackles this issue.

So if you haven’t yet installed a coffee pod machine at your house, make sure to get one as soon as possible. I can promise you that will be no regret.

Bean To Cup Coffee Machines Gain Ground

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

With all the popular coffee articles floating around on this blog (and they almost rival the number of cup holder ones), here’s one more:

Bean to cup coffee machines are a growing segment of the coffee maker industry.

While rejected out of hand by many coffee purists because of their automatic design, the combination small appliances are racking up fans in cucinas and kitchens around the globe. And it’s easy to understand the appeal.

At their most basic, the machines combine a grinder and a brewer into one appliance. You’ve probably seen commercial versions of them in restaurants or hotels, but now they’ve been scaled down and redesigned for home use.

The bean to cup coffee machine, as the British call these grind and brewers, starts with whole, fresh coffee beans. Some models allow, if you absolutely must, the use of pre-ground coffee but that completely defeats the purpose of owning this type of brewing equipment.  The grinding is on demand, at the touch of a button. Then all that’s left for you to do is select your bean-based beverage of choice and wait for the coffeemaker to dispense the steaming hot drink. At that point, the used grounds are shuttled into a compartment, which does have to be emptied by hand and cleaned.

Some well know small appliance makers have jumped into the bean to cup market. Those include, but certainly are not limited to, Gaggia, Jura-Capresso, Siemens, Saeco, Bosh, Franke and Cuisinart. Look for more companies to start a line of these machines as the concept continues to gain favor among coffee aficionados everywhere.

Some manufacturers have eliminated one of the biggest criticisms of the early versions of these coffee makers by building in a burr grinder instead of a blade grinder. This upgrade can be found in some, but not all, entry-level machines. So be sure to check for this feature if you decide to purchase one of the bean to cup coffee machines. And once done, throw that steaming cup of joe into your favorite coffee drink holder.

Like the Varieties of Cup Holders, Read About the Variety of Specialty Coffees

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

Continuing our coffee cup holder related topics for today, here’s some useful info on specialty coffees:

There are many reasons why specialty coffee can be different from place to place. A few of the reasons include the procedure of growing the coffee beans, the area in which coffee is grown, the altitude of the area and the soil in the area. Specialty coffee is similar to gourmet coffee in the way that it varies from country to country, place to place and even from one year to another. The greatest impact on the coffee is obviously from the roaster that is used to treat the coffee. There are quite a few varieties of coffee beans that one needs to know about.

One of the cheaper varieties of coffee is the Robusta. Robusta coffee beans are lot cheaper and are grown at high altitudes around 3000m. Traditionally, the beans are of lower quality and are grown to create cheaper mixtures of coffee or a blend of other higher quality varieties. Although, it is useful for mixtures and blending, on its own the Robusta coffee has a slight smell of rubber in it.
Another variety of coffee is the Arabica which are superior coffee beans to Robusta. These are the most hunter variety of specialty coffee beans, partly because they are grown with lot of care and concentrations. Even the steps of milling and roasting are done with extreme focus. Grown at altitudes around 3000m, Arabica provides us with great tasting coffee.

The roasting part of the coffee beans determines the quality and taste of coffee in the end too. Even if you have quality coffee beans, you will not get excellent tasting coffee if they are over-roasted. Similarly, the degree to which beans should be roasted is something only employees with lot of experience can guess. The amount of roasting and the kind of presentation it needs varies from coffee bean to coffee bean and those who have lot of experience can distinguish the extent of roasting without burning it. The world of specialty coffee could be quite confusing given the whole lot of variety available. This is the reason why one should look to pick coffee only from reputed companies to ensure they get the best quality and blend. Going for recommendations is not a bad idea as only those who have tasted the coffee and known the ingredients and the process that goes into it can suggest what the best specialty coffee that one should pick up and put in your drink holders.
