Common Features Found In A Soda Fountain Dispenser

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

We know some people like to have soda in their beverage holders, but have you ever thought of having your very own fountain for drinks?

If you are in the market for a new soda fountain dispenser, you should understand a few of the most common features found in these units.  Just a little bit of research will go a long way toward allowing you to make an informed purchasing decision, minimizing the chances that you have to return a product or otherwise waste time with an unsatisfactory dispenser.  My aim with this article is to give a summary of just these features.

First of all, make sure that your desired dispenser is compatible with the brand of your preferred syrup.  Most people choose a dispenser that uses “bag in box” refills as these are the easiest to install and by far the easiest to use in general (easy like attaching our cup holder to an armrest).  While other refill types aren’t terribly complex, syrup refills are the last thing you want to think about when you’re in the middle of hosting a party or in the middle of a lunch rush in a crowded restaurant.

Next on the list is multi flavor compatibility.  Most soda dispensers will come with a gun that includes a number of buttons, hopefully adjustable to independent mix settings.  For instance, one button will be dedicated to performing the same function as a water cooler dispenser (except with soda water), while the others will dispense various kinds of syrup mixes.  Generally speaking, the syrup should be mixed at a 5 to 1 ratio with the water, but make sure to read your instruction manual carefully for the last word on this.

Last, you will need to consider whether you want the dispenser to be under the counter or free standing on the countertop.  Both models have their advantages, and this decision will ultimately come down to what kind of environment you are servicing.  If you run a restaurant where patrons can get their own soda refills, I highly recommend the countertop variety.  On the other hand, if you are shopping for a home wetbar, you should probably go with the under counter type.  This will allow you to hide away any ugly equipment under the bar while keeping only the soda gun up to, ready to dispense liquids to your house guests at the touch of a button.

While there are plenty of other considerations to take into account while shopping for one of these devices, the information above will get your in the right frame of mind for asking necessary questions when it’s time to buy. After that you’re ready for your fresh and tasty beverage in your drink holder.

Bus travel saves money but not much time.

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Buses have been in use since the beginning of the 20th century when they became motorized. There were times when a number of railroad companies which offered feeder bus services earlier. With the vast variety of buses that are available, it is true that many times people and families find it rather tough to decide as to which bus type would suit their needs best.

US culture and history has been characterized by bus travel for the last century or so. While many people still prefer car driving for shorter commutes, bus travel allows people to go to less known and rather off beat places too. This gives you the chance to meet up with people you may not have known earlier, which is not possible with other modes of transport. This is true in Europe also, where trains may be super fast but do not reach every corner of the country. With a bus, travel is safe and secure too, which affords the novelty of visiting new places and territory that is quite uncharted for you.

When it comes to cost, bus travel is also quite cheap as it does not come with any surprise or hidden costs and charges. You are sure as to what you are buying and the prices at the time of purchase of the ticket itself. If you need to travel often, it is advisable to go in for bus travel. It is much safer than hitch hiking too. While many people use buses as it is cheap when compared to air travel, another benefit is that you can reach almost anywhere in the US by bus. Additionally, you get to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the US countryside.

Within Japan, the preference for bus travel may have reduced somewhat, but it is still prevalent. In Japan, people prefer bus travel to airlines as airline tickets are quite expensive in comparison and at the same time, it does not allow one to enjoy the bounties of nature and the exotic sights and sounds that one can enjoy by opting for bus travel.

The unique aspect about buses is that these are widely used across the globe, be it in rich countries or poor. These are likely to be used in future too, for connecting smaller towns and cities. Being fast, cheap and also safe, many people use buses. But they also have some downsides. As there is no system for prior ticketing, you may have to sit next to just about anyone. Similarly, people in buses could be mixed as well as rather eccentric and if you are unlucky, you may not be in exactly pleasant company while traveling (plus you’ll need to take along travel accessories). Again, in the US, distances are quite massive and traveling by bus could be lengthy and very cumbersome. It is no wonder then that so many people prefer air travel in the US for its comfort and ability to save time.

Wheelchair types and configurations

Monday, December 7th, 2009

When it comes to wheelchair frames, the materials that are used define the extent to which the wheelchair is durable as well as how strong it is. There are a host of materials that are used, from aluminum, titanium, chrome as well as composite materials that are quiet light weight. Some of the frames could be rigid, while others are folding and flexible. One of the key aspects of good quality wheelchairs is the need for safety in the wheelchairs being crashworthy as well as tie down points. These need to be standardized for better safety. Titanium is of the best materials as it is durable and tough as well as light. Titanium is twice as strong as 6061 aluminum and 50% lighter than steel on account of which it provides the best of both worlds.

Wheelchairs come with well designed armrests which are meant to support the user’s upper body when seated in the chair. It is also possible to have wheelchairs without armrests or even truncated ones in case the user has enough strength to support his/her upper body. Wheelchairs come with lap trays, special armrests and also forearm troughs in order to provide comfort and convenience to the wheelchair user. Rigid arm boards serve the purpose of supporting the humeral head in alignment with the glenoid fossa at a better and more natural and flexible angle as compared to slings. Armrests, based on their type and mode could add a lot of weight to the wheelchairs.

There are quite a few armchair types that are available. Some of these have power functions like elevating, recline and tilt. Some of these also have height adjustment feature or flip back ability. Many of these wheelchairs fold well and simply which makes it easy for transportation and storage when not in use. These also have brake handles so that the wheelchair can come to a halt as required. The depth of the wheelchair is measured from the back to the front of the seat, and a proper depth is needed for both support and comfort.

When the wheelchair is of folding type, it should have 1 to 2 seat widths in the cross brace. One can also order growth kits from manufacturers along with footplates as well as new cross frame. Folding frames have cross braces that help the chair to get collapsed effectively. On the other hand, wheelchairs which are rigid in manner have folding backs and also wheels that are quick release in nature.

Wheelchairs come in various models that include rear-wheel, mid-wheel and front-wheel types. In rear-wheel type of wheelchairs, there are big wheels that are placed in the rear part so as to prop up the rider’s center of gravity. While rear wheel drive wheelchairs are quite common, front wheels are also gaining in popularity as they provide a tighter turning capacity.

One can also add mobility scooters to wheelchairs according to the user’s specific needs. There are also a number of other scooter accessories and additional products that you can take advantage of to enhance your mobility scooter experience. You can check out a lot if these online as there are quite a few websites that host such products online to make your wheelchair or mobility scooter experience more comfortable.
